News from Mrs. Chalmers

News from Spanish...

After learning the Spanish term for the objects in a classroom, the kindergartners have moved on to learning the correct words for the members of their family. The first and second graders are learning the terms for the parts of the body and especially love to sing, “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes” in Spanish (cabeza, hombros, rodillas, dedos). The 3rd graders have continued to add to their comprehensive word list for the items in a classroom and extended family relations. The language studies of the fifth and sixth grade students have centered on foods--especially fruits and vegetables. By year’s end, the students will be able to label approximately 75 foods with the appropriate Spanish term!

News from Band…

Following their wonderful group and solo pieces at last month’s Christmas program, the fifth and sixth grade Band members continue to learn new rhythms and notes and working together on their group Band music.   It is such a treat to hear them use and develop the gifts God has given them. I am so proud of their hard work…we are a small, but mighty group!
